Since the wonderful Laura from buy now, blog later mentioned years ago on her much missed YouTube channel a recommendation for Coney Island Cotton Candy, I have always had it in mind but for some reason never got around to actually purchasing. I think I considered it as something at that point that I liked a lot, but maybe didn't need and so I just kept putting it off- sensible!
Whilst at the Professional Beauty Show they had a huge OPI stand, if you follow me on Instagram (@bellesboutique) you may have seen the photos that I uploaded- it was absolutely huge. I picked up a few things the first time round and put off a couple of bits, that were unfortunately sold out when I went back. Fortunately, I did manage to get this one, Coney Island Cotton Candy for just £5.20.
At work, my nails either have to be very neutral or matching with my lipstick. I personally prefer to wear a more natural nail to work for a couple of reasons. Firstly, if it chips its a lot less visible and secondly, it looks much better with my dolly uniform.
With that in mind, this is the perfect shade for me. It's very much a beautiful, Pink Beige Nude.
The colour is absolutely lovely, but to get to the shade I like is pretty much a nightmare. The consistency is pretty thin, and the colour payoff isn't great to begin with.
The first and second coat is extremely sheer and it isn't until after then where you have built it up that the colour becomes the lovely Pinky Beige Nude that I love.
It does last well on the nail, so I can kind of put this aside, as it all becomes worth it in the end. Oh, and because I absolutely love the name of this shade.
I hope you don't mind that I have used a nail wheel to show you the colour, I mentioned in my Nail Envy post that I'm trying to leave my nails to get them back to health, and so they have been cut down really quite short and boyish in order to get the strength and shape to how I want it. They don't look the most pleasant and so I decided on this option. It also means that I can hopefully share some more shades with you, more often.
Have you tried the very sweet OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy?
