Winter Wonderland Hyde Park 2012

Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I love the festivities that London holds. I love to go and see all of the lights and markets and really just enjoy the atmosphere.
Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park has become somewhat of a Christmas tradition and every year I like to visit it a few times with both friends and family.

This week I have been twice and I thought I would share a few photos with you. I tend to stay away from the Fun Fair part and stick to the German Markets, delicious foods and drinks and general Christmassy wonders.
My favourite things to indulge in at Winter Wonderland are without a doubt Lemon & Sugar Crepes, Cinnamon Pretzels and Nutella Waffles, all washed down with a beautiful Hot Cider.

If you haven't visited Winter Wonderland, then I definitely recommend you do. Whether it be to go to a German bar and enjoy the musical entertainment, go ice skating or just to take in the scenes, it really is quite the dream.

Winter Wonderland closes on the 6th January, are you planning on popping along or have you been already?

Laura Mercier Signature Votive Collection

Oh I do love a sale, especially a Christmas one and whilst I was in Selfridges yesterday, I managed to catch the beginning of their tremendous one and get my hands on this four set Laura Mercier Signature Votive Collection for £10, yes £10.

It was reduced from £42 to £21, but because of a slightly battered box and a very kind lady I managed to get this for £10 which I am so incredibly pleased about as it has been on my wish list for a while now.

These scented candles of Warm Roasted Chestnut, Creme Brûlée, Fresh Fig and Tarte Au Citron are all absolutely beautiful. If you have read my Laura Mercier Creme Brûlée Hand Cream post, then you'll know how much I love that scent, but honestly they are all so lovely and I can't bring myself to pick a favourite. I've already started burning them and this evening the Warm Roasted Chestnut candle has made my house smell so festively divine. They are all quite rich scents which won't be for everyone, especially the Creme Brûlée as it can be a little sickly, but I really do love them.

This set is still widely available, although I definitely suggest you get to Selfridges to see if you can pick it up with 50% off.

Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick- Whisper

Hourglass is a brand that is relatively new to me, in fact I only really gave it any attention this year when I purchased my beloved Hourglass Illume Bronze Duo. I've visited the counter in Liberty quite often since and more recently have absolutely fallen for the Veil Mineral Primer, which I will be blogging about soon.

The newest Hourglass product to join my collection is this Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick in Whisper*. It's such a weighty lipstick which in my opinion oozes luxury and feels very expensive. Even the lipstick itself has been shaped with an Hourglass embedded through it, which is a perfect detail.

In the tube, the shade doesn't look to be one that I would normally pick out of a collection, looking to be a slightly darker natural shade that is possibly more mature looking than anything else I own. I'm afraid I can only describe this as a Pink toned, natural your lips but better shade that has the tiniest of shimmer running throughout.
On the lips, this colour is definitely more me and I don't think looks how I thought it would, which leaves me pleasantly surprised. It still looks to be the same natural shade, but with a lot more of a Pink hue rather than Beige which I love. No shimmer at all shows on the lip, just a beautiful moisturising sheen that sits wonderfully on the lips. The formula is quite creamy and applies like a dream, with just a couple of sweeps you have a lovely colour on your lip that doesn't really need any work or too much attention.

Something I love about this product, is that it is a refillable lipstick, meaning when the product is finished, rather than buy a whole new lipstick you can just buy the refill to pop in. This is really handy and I think a really nice touch.

With Lipstick being one of my favourite cosmetic products, I can't believe I hadn't tried Hourglass lipsticks sooner. I will definitely be adding them into my Liberty beauty hall routine and am looking quite forward to it.

Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Cremes cost £22 and are available at Liberty and Hourglass Counters.

Gielly Green Boutique Collection Nourish Mask

For as long as I can remember, my mum and I have loved to indulge in a hair treatment and there is an ever growing queue of new ones sat on the side of the bath waiting to be used. The latest one to grace our locks is this Gielly Green Nourish Mask*.

I'm not sure who wins the prize for my favourite mask ever, but I know that this one is certainly up there, if not taking the winning title. It's not a brand I had heard of previously to trying it, in fact even when I was using it I wasn't sure on the brand nor where it sat in terms of high or low end, but I did know that the results were excellent and every single time I have washed my hair for the past couple of months I have reached for it.

Since looking into repurchasing this, I have found out that it is actual fact one of the priciest hair masks that I have ever tried at £29.50, but is it worth it? I think it is.

I tend to wash my hair before my bath and massage this into my newly washed wet hair from root to end and leave for the duration of my bath time, which is usually around 20/25 minutes. It's a very thick rich consistency which I think you can see from the photo above and just a small amount leaves my hair feeling so nice and soft. It definitely helps to give my hair a shine and without feeling heavy in the slightest, my hair feels and looks so much glossier and healthier.

The packaging is pretty massive for the 200ml of product, surrounded in a very chunky squared Plastic base which is probably my only negative. It does take up a little more room than necessary and there is just no way I would be able to take it away with me on trips as it is also quite weighty.

Gielly Green is a boutique salon in Marylebone and for a stand alone salon, this is a really fantastic product. I'm really keen to try the other masks and the volume range next, as I'm sure you know, volume enhancing products are always my go-to in any hair care collection.

This product is available for £29.50 on the Gielly Green website and Beauty Bay

Do you use a hair mask on your hair? Have you tried any of the Gielly Green Boutique Collection?

Origins Make a Difference Plus + Rejuvenating Treatment

I've recently been trying quite a few new products in amongst my skin care routine and I'm really enjoying using a varied range of products more than ever. In the Winter, I feel like my skin needs a little more love and attention and I am enjoying nothing more than treating my skin to nice products on a cosy evening in.

This Origins Make a Difference + Rejuvenating Treatment* is one product of eight in the range and when I first received it, I kind of just assumed it was going to be a standard moisturiser, however, this is a rehydrating and repairing treatment that applied after a serum and on its own is absolutely perfect on my skin. Both in the morning before my make up application and in the evening before bed, this product is lovely and it leaves my skin feeling incredible.

I must say when I apply this at night, I do apply quite a bit more product but it sinks into my skin beautifully and doesn't feel heavy in the slightest. I wake up to such nice skin and really feel like it has given my skin a little boost.
Applied before my make up, it is absolutely wonderful. It's an oil-free product with a gel-like texture that glides onto my skin so smoothly. It feels really quite refreshing and cooling on my skin and being so lightweight, sinks in relatively fast making it perfect for a quick morning routine.

I've spoken to a few people about this product and I know some of them weren't too keen on the scent, but I love it. Before I had even used this product I loved the smell and rushed to my mum for her to smell it. Two of the ingredients are Lychee and Watermelon, but it very much reminds me of a childhood toy, which I am the first to admit sounds extremely bizarre! One of the girls agreed and said maybe it's plastic-like, but it really reminds me of the childhood Fairy Cupcakes which is just one of those smells that I can't get enough of.

I really like this product, so much so that I am very close to the scraping the bottom of the 50ml tub and adding a new one into my basket. It leaves my skin feeling beautifully moisturised and hydrated which on these cold frosty days is perfect.

This Origins Make a Difference Plus + Rejuvenating Treatment is available from Origins online and Origins counters and costs £33.

Remington Vintage Glamour Event

A few weeks ago I attended a very exciting Vintage Glamour event held by Remington at Lucy in Disguise in London, which if you didn't already know, is a wonderfully put together vintage store owned by Lily Allen.

The event was held to showcase the products in their collections and to give us the opportunity to have a go of them, whilst styling our hair in very fancy vintage styles which was a lot of fun. It sounds easy, but under the pressure of bloggers surrounding you and having consumed one or two beautiful tea cup cocktails, my hands seemed to get a little cack-handed.

I wanted to learn a new hair style for work, so opted for the hair style pictured above, which was a backcombing fans dream. The Remington Team and Session Stylist Chris Appleton were on hand to either do your hair or simply just talk you through it, which is what I did.
To achieve the look, I backcombed my crown area to extremes and lightly pulled it back into a low pony tail, securing it with a snag band and a few kirby grips. To add a more feminine touch around my face, I pulled the front loose with a tail comb and run a curling tong through two sections, pulling the remaining loose bits back, not too perfectly, to add a little more shape and secured further with a grip.
I have actually worn my hair in this style since and I really like it, it's not to prim and proper and really, just makes a nice change!

I do love a hair tool and Remington have some incredible ones available. The one that caught my eye the most was the Keratin Therapy Pro Volume Brush, surprise! I love volume and this large barrel, Keratin Ceramic coated brush is heated and works to create the most volume and bounce to your hair.
I saw it being used on some of the girls hair and honestly, the results were absolutely incredible!

Remington offer a very varied range of hair tools and electrical hair removal all of which can be found here.
If you were interested in any of these, I have found that quite a few of the tools are on special offer here in Boots.

Do you have a favourite Remington product? If not, are there any products here that have caught your eye?
